The organization is now founded
On May the 14th in Sofia the new LGBTI membership organization was founded. Its name was chosen to be LGBT Idea, and it is to be registered in few days, in public benefit.The Organization`s mission is to work towards the social inclusion of LGBT and the overwhelming of sexual orientation and gender identity biased forms of discrimination. The founders of LGBT Idea in alphabetical order are as follows: Angel Piskov, Vasil Kovachev, Dimitar Geshev, Nikolay Voiskov, Olga Peytcheva, Pavlin Stoychev, Stanimir Panayotov, Stanislav Tanchev, Svetoslav Kodinov, Ico Petroff, Hristo Ptuhin, Hristo Georgiev, Hristo Simeonov, and Tzvetomir Deliyski.
The organization seeks to achieve
1. Stimulation of the social inclusion of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals, but not at the expense of closeting one`s sexual orientation and gender identity and expression;
2. Advancement and raising of social awareness and acquaintance on issues such as sexual orientation and gender identity and expression;
3. Development and promotion of social and cultural policies fostering and contributing to the equal treatment of LGBTs in social and public life;
4. Protection of the rights of LGBTs, as well as work towards the undoing of all forms of legal, social, cultural and economic discrimination and prosecution;
5. Assistance for the development of a public tolerance culture directed at both welcoming differences and effacing discriminatory practices;
6. Support for the international LGBT movement.
7. Work in the field of HIV and AIDS prevention, as well as other STDs, as well as looking forward to and working for collaboration with relevant national and international organization.
The Founding Assembly`s elected Board of LGBT Idea chose as its Chair Pavlin Stoychev. The other elected Board Members are as follows: Olga Peytcheva - Vice-Chair, Hristo Georgiev - Treasurer and in charge witrh Organizational Development, the much-fetted musician Ico Petroff is in charge with Public Relations, and Stanimir Panayotov is in charge with International Relations.
